Domain knowledge for bioRxiv/medRxiv — preprints, search, published versions

bioRxiv

Data Model

  • Search: By server (biorxiv or medrxiv) and date range. Returns collection with doi.
  • Preprint: Fetch by doi for full metadata.
  • Published: Get published version link by doi if journal version exists.
  • Date format: start_date, end_date as YYYY-MM-DD.

Gotchas

  • Rate limit: Conservative 1 req/sec. Reduce date ranges and cache for repeated queries.
  • server: Must be "biorxiv" or "medrxiv".
