Domain knowledge for using Rocketlane project management tools effectively

Rocketlane

Rocketlane organizes onboarding and implementation projects. Projects contain Phases and Tasks; Spaces hold collaborative documents. Time tracking is via Time Entries and Time Offs.

Data Model

  • Projects — client onboarding/implementation projects; have phases and tasks.
  • Phases — project stages; contain tasks.
  • Tasks — work items; can have assignees and due dates.
  • Spaces — collaborative areas; contain Space Documents.
  • Fields — custom fields for projects/tasks.
  • Time Entries — logged time on tasks.
  • Time Offs — leave/absence records.
  • Users — team members.

Gotchas

  • Project-centric: Most operations are scoped to a project. List projects first to obtain IDs.
